KARACHI - Former Sindh home minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza on Saturday said he spoke in the interest of the country and the PPP, and he was silent now also for the same reason, a private TV channel reported.

Unlike the previous trend, he recently appeared before media when his son entered into politics but seemed not hundred per cent active. Talking to media, Mirza said his stance about MQM had not changed. Answering a question regarding Pir Mazharul Haq, he said the history would decide about him and others. “What can be done as he (Pir Mazharul Haq) is a habitual liar,” Mirza said.

Mirza repeated his earlier position, saying he would remain committed to the PPP, adding that he was thankful to President Asif Ali Zardari, who was his guide. Justifying his silence, the former provincial minister said if he opted to talk in a similar fashion, it would harm the president.
