LAHORE – Sameer Iftikhar won the first ICAP Golf Tournament which concluded here on Saturday at the par-72 Royal Palm Golf Course.

As many as 119 participants took part in the tournament which was conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP).

Governor Punjab Sardar Latif Khosa was chief guest at the concluding ceremony and distributed prizes among the winners. A lucky draw was held for the caddies also and 10 lucky ones were given bicycles by the chief guest Latif Khosa and Rashid Rehman Mir, President ICAP and Haji M Yousaf of ICAP.

Ramzan Sheikh, Lt Gen (r) M Tariq, Naeem Sheikh, Pervez Qureshi, Ronda Ehsan of CIDA, Col (r) Jamil Khalid, Ziaur Rehman and a large number of participating golfers were also present on the occasion.

 Sameer, a three handicapper, emerged with the best gross score a four over par 76 and thereby declared the winner of the event. His nearest challenger was Omer Salamat, who ended the 18 holes fight with a score similar to that of Sameer but Sameer won because of a better score on the back nine leaving Salamat a little distraught as he had to be content with the runner-up prize while Sardar Murad bagged third position in this category.

In the handicap category 1-12, the winner in net category was Abdullah Sharif with a score of net 69, followed by Faisal Ali Malik at second with a net 70 and Nasir Irshad at third with a net 72.  Among the Chartered Accountants category, the top performers were Mohtisham Aftab, Ibne Hassan, Waheed Aslam in net category and and Anjum A Sheikh, Ale Imran and Mian M Saleem in gross.

The nearest to the pin prizes were won by Abdullah Sharif, Brig Arshed Abbasi and Hamid Sharif. The longest drive was hit by Omer Salamt and most accurate drive by Haris Nasir. Maximum birdies were scored by Shoaib Bokhari.

In the handicap category 13-18, the top performers were Saeedul Haseeb, Khurram Mazhar, Irfan Ali, Faisal Hassan, Shahid Karim and Dr Ahmed Faizan.
