GCU honours its hockey player

LAHORE - Government College University Lahore adored one of its brilliant hockey players Grahandan Singh, in absentia, at a graceful ceremony at the university campus here on Tuesday. Former Olympians Anwar Shah, Saeed Ahmed Khan and Qayum Rasheed also attended the ceremony. Grahandan Singh studied in the Government College in the mid 40’s and also won roll of honours in hockey in 1944. His daughter Bani Singh was in the city to attend the Lahore Literary Festival. GC Director Sports Prof Khadim Ali Khan invited her to the college where she received a souvenir on behalf of her great father for the services he gave to the GC. GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Khaleeq-ur-Rehman presented the souvenir. Bani Singh said that she was deeply moved by the affection and respect she received at the GC, the alma mater of her father. –Staff Reporter
