Six cops dismissed on disciplinary grounds

RAWALPINDI - SSP (Operations) Mian Maqbool on Tuesday dismissed Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Muhammad Abbas, posted at Police Station (PS) Cantonment, from service on account of creating mess in public and dancing naked after drinking outside a hotel at Hathi Chowk. 
Similarly, five more officers were shown the door by SSP after holding departmental inquiry against them for backing criminals, drug peddlers and pimps, getting bribe, initiating faulty investigations in cases and absence from duty.
According to SSP (Operations) Mian Maqbool, ASI Muhammad Abbas hired a room at a local hotel at Hathi Chowk where he drank alcohol and created mess. Later, he came on the road, harassed people, stripped his clothes and started dancing in front of many.
Some people caught drunken police officer and handed him over to area police. An inquiry was held against ASI on an application of a citizen, the SSP said, adding that during inquiry, ASI was found guilty and was dismissed from service, he said.
SSP Mian Maqbool also axed a constable Safdar Ali as he was charged in an inquiry report with taking bribe of Rs 100,000 from drug peddlers, favouring and sheltering bootleggers and brothel houses, informed reader to SSP.
He informed that a Sub Inspector Manzoor Hussain of PS Naseerabad and two constables Jabbar and Shamas Bilal have also been fired from police department on account of absentees from job. Those police officers, who were censured by SSP for not performing duty with commitment and dedication, included SI Afzaal, ASI Abdul Zahoor, Ejaz and constables Abid and Muhammad Nawaz.
