ISLAMABAD-Pakistan People's Party-led coalition government decided to further expand the cabinet by inducting two more ministers from JUI(F) and another three from MQM on Monday(today), sources disclosed to The Nation. The Presidential spokesman Farhat Ullah Babar confirmed the cabinet expansion on Monday and said that two more ministers from JUI(F) would be inducted in the cabinet but could not say a word about MQM joining the Federal Cabinet. The sources close to developments taking place in this connection said that MQM was offered three berths in the Federal Cabinet and reportedly their Central Executive Committee had given go ahead to be part of the Federal Government and the same was also approved by their Quaid Altaf Hussain. A source close to MQM said that three slots in the Federal Cabinet were offered to them and the party leadership had decided to accept the offer and most likely they would also be the part of the MPs going to take oath as Federal Ministers on Monday evening at Awan-i-Sadr, where all preparations for oath-taking ceremony were already in place and even the invitation cards for the function had also been distributed. MQM would likely get the portfolios of Ports and Shipping, Petroleum and Natural Resources and Commerce and most probably Senator Babar Ghouri, Senator Ahmad Hassan and Farooq Sattar would take oath on Monday while some sources in the MQM even gave the name of Ms Khushbakht Shujat to be included in the expanded cabinet. The sources close to the coalition government further informed that MQM was still demanding the Ministry of Housing which they held in the previous government as well but till filing of this report the PP-led government had not decided to make a decision in their favour and they were asked to confine to the portfolios they had already been offered. The sources further disclosed that JUI(F), which was presently holding the portfolio of Housing, was not ready to relinquish the charge of this ministry in lieu of some other portfolio. The sources further disclosed that JUI(F) was also given two more berths in the Federal Cabinet with the portfolios of Science and Technology and Tourism and JUI(F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had already given the names of his brother, Maulana Attaur Rehman, and Azam Khan Sawati to be inducted as Federal Ministers against these portfolios.
