KARACHI - Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Shaukat Tarin has maintained that the general inflation would plunge to single-digit mark by year-end. He said that the inflation has already started tumbling during the past couple of months and it would drop to single-digit mark by November or December this year. In an interview to MoneyPlus magazine of TheNation, Tarin said that the government would reduce the interest rate as soon as the inflation takes a significant dip this year. Reduction in inflation and mark-up rate would provide a pleasant and real relief to the consumers and the common people in the country, he added. He also pointed out some major improvements in the foreign exchange reserves of Pakistan, tax revenue, funding from the donors, debt swap and two separate plans to ensure a long-term sustainable growth and to minimise energy crisis.
