TIMERGARA - A prominent lawyer, who was reportedly kidnapped Saturday evening, was killed in the wee hours of Sunday morning when local police found his bullet-riddled body lying at a square. "Our police party during routine patrolling has found the body of Abdul Jamil Khan Advocate lying at the Chaudhry Iftikhar Chowk early Sunday morning," an official of local police informed the media. The official said that Abdul Jamil Advocate might have been kidnapped in the evening and was killed in the late night. However, a member of the District Bar Council told TheNation that Abdul Jamil Advocate was last seen on Saturday in the bar. The body was later taken to the District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy. No group or individual has so far claimed responsibility of the murder. The area police have registered a case against the unknown killers and have started investigation. Abdul Jamil was in sixties and was a prominent lawyer of the area. The deceased, who was bachelor, was living with his nephew. Another member of the District Bar Council said that the deceased lawyer was famous for his liberal and secular views and had been an activist of Awami National Party. However, for the last few years, he was not active in politics, he said. He was buried in his hometown Swat Sunday evening.
