LAHORE - Central PPP leader Senator Dr Safdar Abbasi and his spouse Naheed Khan on Sunday said that besides implementation of Charter of Democracy (CoD), the issue of judiciary should also be resolved to end current state of political instability in the country. Talking to reporters at the residence of former PPP MPA Dr Zia Ullah Khan Bangash here, the PPP leaders said that solution to many of country's problems lay in reinstatement of deposed judges and implementation of CoD as per commitment of political leadership. The couple visited the residence of Dr Bangash to condole the death of his brother in law Mustafa Ali who died recently. Naheed Khan termed CoD a sacred document, made part of party's election manifesto by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, and urged its implementation in letter and spirit to solve country's problems. Replying to a question, Naheed said widening gap between party leaders and workers was creating disappointment among the latter. She, however, hailed the statement by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani that he would establish contact with party workers to address their grievances. She reiterated that early initiation of investigation into Benazir Bhutto's assassination case was also an important demand of PPP workers, which must be fulfilled irrespective whether the UN or some other agency is assigned this task. She said reinstatement of 7,000 employees dismissed after the dismantling of second PPP government in 1996, was a positive step by present Government. Majority of sacked employees belonged to poor families and hence suffered a lot after the injustice decision by the then government, she added. Responding to a question about 17th Amendment and the alleged political wrangling between presidency and the Prime Minister House, Dr Safdar Abbasi said presence of any such amendment could create problem between the two offices anywhere in the word.
