After the necessary judicial proceedings have been ordered by Prime Minister Gilani in compliance of the historic judgment of the SCP on NRO, the President stands 'not-innocent till proven otherwise. There are also reports to the effect that a French judge is probing an attack in Pakistan that killed 11 French engineers and he has asked Britain and Switzerland to provide whatever information they have on allegations of kickbacks in the Agosta submarine case about our President. Whether or not the Article 248 gives him immunity in the past misdeeds (before becoming President) is also something that is being contested in courts along with eligibility of his candidacy for the Presidency. It may be pertinent to mention here that lately many criminal charges (including that of murder) have surfaced against him courtesy the old guards of the Bhutto dynasty, including one ex-President. He is under a dark cloud and shall likely be so in times to come.
