KARACHI - Leaders from different political and religious parties of the country in All Parties Conference (APC), convened by Jaffaria Alliance Pakistan (JAP), have demanded of the government to initiate concerted efforts to seriously probe into the Ashura mayhem as traditional means have been failed in arresting the culprits. The APC was held at Arts Council of Pakistan on Monday. Addressing the APC participants, JAP president Allama Abbas Kumaili said that there was no Sunni and Shia strife behind the Ashura mayhem though who designed the plot of this conspiracy were aimed at creating such divide but we believe that this would not happen ever. He said: These Ashura processions are not of Shiites, not of Sunnis these processions revered by the entire humanity because Imam Hussain (RA) gave sacrifice for the whole humanity. In this mayhem not only the Shiites were killed, Sunnis were also among the dead. Kumaili accused the government that why an FIR of the incident was not registered after 5 hours of the incident. He denounced that the law enforcement agencies first claimed that it was a suicide attack but later on back out from their claim and said that it was a planted bomb. Investigations of the tragedy are not thoroughly conducted as the authorities have changed their views several times. Fresh investigations should be conducted to bring the perpetrators behind the bars. He vowed that whoever was thinking of curtailing the Ashura processions or changing its routes must keep in mind that these processions were coming out since 62 years and they would not let anybody to create hurdle in it. Sardar Raheem, PML-N central leader, said that terrorists did not leave any opportunity to attack innocent people and their efforts always meant to create a rift between us on communal or sectarian basis but these malicious plans of terrorists would not be succeeded. He said our party thinks that arson and riots acts were planned and conducted through a well planned strategy. If police are true in its findings that it had arrested the culprits of Ashura mayhem and they belonged to Jundullah then why it arrested the local mourners? He said police claims were based on speculations and all those who participated in the processions must be released immediately. ANP Sindh president Shahi Syed said: We all should pledge to ourselves that we will always shun hypocrisy. The biggest negativity among us is that we have started humiliating each other. We all have to introspect ourselves and become a watchdog for ourselves that what we are doing. Former Senator and PML central leader, Nisar Memon, said that the APC was a good effort on part of JAP and PML fully supports the agenda of the conference. He said that the motives behind the mayhem were to destabilise the country. Sindh United Party (SUP) chairman Jalal Mehmood Shah said that the most condemnable thing was that inopportune incidents were occurred but our authorities had always failed to investigate that who were the real culprit behind these incidents. He quoted the incidents of looting and arson after the assassination of Benazir Bhuttos in which professional criminals started their criminal activities under the guise of protest against her murder. This time again after Ashura blast the same kind of people spread all this anarchy. The APC concluded after adopting an unanimous resolution demanding justice and true investigation of Ashura mayhem.
