Citizens protested as sewage accumulated on various roads and colonies in Sadiqabad city has transformed into ponds thereby causing difficulties for the residents in carrying out their routine matters besides spreading diseases.

However, the Tehsil Council administration has failed to drain out the dirty matter. The worst hit areas include Shahra-e-Quaid-i-Azam, Sattar Shaheed Road, Askari Park Chowk, Shahzad Colony, Municipal Town, Mazhar Farid and Mohallah Faisalabad as the sewerage system in these areas is not serving the purpose. The protesters said that they had repeatedly written to the Tehsil Council against the situation but to no avail. The protesters including M Islam, Irfan, Shabbir, Ghulam Qasim, Mujahid, Abdul Raoof, Amir and Tanveer demanded immediate steps to resolve the issue.

The people are suffering from various diseases which are spreading owing to consumption of sewage-mixed water as sewage gets mixed in drinkable water through the damaged parts of rusted supply lines. The local people are unable to get medically treated as they lack financial resources and living hand-to-mouth life. They demanded that the administration should reconstruct the sewage system for betterment of the local people.

The residents of Tibba Zahir Pir area took to the streets as sewerage water has accumulated due to choked sewer pipelines there. The sewerage lines of the area have completely clogged up because of not carrying out cleanliness by the Sanitation Department of the Tehsil Council.

In addition, encroachers are ruling the roost at main roads, markets and bazaars including congested areas of Sadiqabad. Venders have created problems for the motorists and pedestrians by establishing make-shift set-ups even on the roads. The notorious areas in this regard include: Qazafi Bazaar, Mazhar Farid Colony, Khalid Bazaar, Faisal Bazaar, Railway Chowk, Railway Road, Link Road, Punjab Cinema Road, Ghosia Chowk, Majeed Shaheed Road, Old Sadiqabad and Kacha Shahi Road.
