Two suspected robbers, cop killed in shootouts

MUZAFFARGARH/ KHANEWAL - Two alleged dacoits and a police constable were killed in two separate shootouts occurred in different districts here on Saturday.
According to details, a police constable identified as Saifullah, a resident of Khangarh was killed and two others sustained injuries during a raid carried out in village Mian, Mauza Muhammadpur to arrest bandits.
The police were tipped off that some dacoits had looted a resident namely Dr Zaffar Iqbal. At which the police rushed to the spot in the suburban village. Police Officer Asif Ali Shaikh along with four personnel entered the village and warned the bandits. In the meantime, they opened indiscriminate firing killing constable Saifullah on the spot while two others sustained critical wounds and were rushed to hospital.
The police cordoned off the area and started search operation but the dacoits fled the scene. In Khanewal, two alleged dacoits were killed in an alleged shootout with the police here in the remit of Saddr Police on Saturday.
According to reports, police signalled to suspected motorcyclists to stop at a picket in Adda Kachi Pakki area but they, instead, opened firing on the police personnel which the latter returned. Resultantly both the motorcyclists were killed on the spot.
The bodies were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital for medico-legal formalities. Identity of the deceased could not be ascertained yet.
Meanwhile, the police claimed to have recovered arms from their possession.
