The promulgation of Defence of Pakistan Ordinance is a right move at a right time especially under the prevailing circumstance when terrorism has plagued the country.

Talking to this reporter here on Saturday, Tehreek-e-Istiqlal Central (TI) President Rehmat Khan Wardag pointed out that the ordinance was a much needed move as there exist no law for the Law Enforcement Agencies to arrest those involved in terror activities. The ordinance will certainly help the LEAs in nab the culprits involved in terrorism,” he expressed his hope.

Wardag opined that it would be better if the government tabled the ordinance in the Parliament and put to the vote make it a permanent law. The TI chief argued that in the past due to absence of any such ordinance or law, the former chief justice set free many culprits involved in terrorism. He asserted that the ordinance would certainly help the LEAs to overcome the terrorists which would result in improving the law and order situation in the country.

Replying to a question, Wardag, however, said that the LEAs should be bound to timely inform the family of any alleged criminals before arrest. To another question, he said that the LEAs and Pak Army never arrest innocent people but it was pity that some of the anchors of private TV channels had started blame game and tarnishing the image of Pak Army.
