islamabad - The Capital Development Authority has asked the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration and the police to set up a permanent police picket at Faizabad after transporters immediately reoccupied the vacated state land on the night of January 24.

The request comes in the wake of resistance and tenacity shown by the encroachers — mostly the local transporters on different occasions.

Requesting legal action against encroachers namely Abdul Hameed Abbasi, Shakeel Abbasi, Arshad Abbasi, Bala Pathan and some other unknown persons, the Director Environment (West) CDA has asked the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and SSP (Operations) Islamabad for establishing the police picket at Faizabad which hosts majority of the illegal bus stands.

The letter written by the director to the authorities explains how the encroachers reoccupied the state land within hours of the CDA’s anti-encroachment operation on night of January 24.

The letter under the title ‘Report on illegal construction of bus stands at Faizabad’ sent to the Deputy Commissioner and the SSP said that Protection Cell of the CDA was deputed at Faizabad after a cleanup operation for removal of illegal bus stands at Faizabad on Wednesday (January 24) by the enforcement staff, DMA and environment protection staff.

The CDA staff also started plantation at the site immediately so that the encroachers could not find it easy to reoccupy the site. However, the encroachers namely Abdul Hameed Abbasi, Shakeel Abbasi, Arshad Abbasi, Bala Pathan and some other unknown persons having arms in their hands again occupied the site during midnight of January 24-25 and they also threatened the CDA with dire consequences.

Interestingly, the Protection Staff called the police at 3am but no one came to the site. The high-ups at the CDA have requested the concerned authorities that a permanent picket of police force may be established till permanent removal of the said encroachment besides strict legal action against the encroachers. The CDA in an operation on Wednesday cleared around 2 acres of green belt and right of way in the area of Faizabad from the occupation of the transporters. Meanwhile, Industrial Area police have booked the accused under section 353, 186, 148, 149, 341, 506 and 447 of the PPC ,however, no one could be arrested so far.

Meanwhile, the Planning Wing of the CDA has decided to take action against the builders who have not stopped illegal construction in Sector E-11 of the city despite repeated notices and warnings.
