PPP gets new office-bearers


Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has approved the names of party’ Lahore City office bearers. There will be four district presidents in Lahore apart from Mian Azizur Rehman Chan who is at the top of new set up.  According to a notification, Mian Shahid Abbas has been nominated as President District -1 while Muhammad Asif Nawaz Nagra, Mian Atif Ch and Amjad Ali Jutt have been nominated as presidents for District-2, 3 and 4 respectively. Haq Nawaz Khan has been nominated as Senior Vice president for District 4.–Staff Reporter


PFA DG praises Kot Lakhpat Prison admin


Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Director General Noorul Amin Mengal has appreciated Kot Lakhpat Jail administration for maintaining kitchen during his visit Thursday. He awarded with Rs20000 cash to administration for encouraging their efforts towards health Punjab missions. He has directed to conduct training course for jail employees on provincial level. He visited different sections of canteen for examining the food quality and food ingredients that was being used in the preparation of food.–Staff Reporter


SZMC's three-year success lauded


Sheikh Zayed Medical Complex, Lahore (SZMC) Chairman Dr Farid Ahmad has claimed that during his tenure, the SZMC has made great strides in various fields. He added as his three years tenure nears completion. SZMC was seen to have come a long way in all spheres of activity. In the realm of capacity building, it has added a 325-bed mini hospital to the existing 1,025-bed health facility, he said.  “Emergency department has been expanded from 19 to 52 beds besides upgrading of gynecology and paediatric wards. The newly established floor also houses full-fledged ICU, CCU, ENT, cardio thoracic, cardiology, opthalmology, plastic surgery, burn, pulmonology and liver transplant units. The establishment of state-of-the-art mega operation theatre on its 2nd floor at a cost of Rs220 million is about to complete while theatres pertaining opthalmology and urology-related surgeries arc already operative,” he detailed. He maintained that development of four new departments i.e. Rheumatology, Psychiatt;y', Dermatology and Paediatric Surgery added altogether new dimensions to the hospital’s outlook. Building on the momentum of the recent progress, he claimed, he had evolved a futuristic vision for development of the institution into a more modern and efficient organisation in all facets of activity.–Staff Reporter


KEMU oral cancer seminar today


An awareness seminar on oral cancer will be held today at King Edward Medical University’s Old Auditorium. The seminar organised by the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery,King Edward Medical University (KEMU) would also be followed by an awareness walk.  The VC of the KEMU Prof Qazi Saeed will be the guest of honour while experts, including Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, Prof Asad Aslam, Dr Zahid Pervez and MS Mayo Hospital Dr Tahir Khalid will also attend the seminar.–APP
