MIRPUR (AJK) - The people of Jammu & Kashmir are all set to observe the Indian Republic Day as black day today to invite the attention of international community towards the illegal and forcible occupation of Held Kashmir.

The Kashmirs observe the Indian Republic Day as black day every year as a protest against the continued long Indian subjugation of the occupied Jammu & Kashmir.

They apprise the world about the continued brutalities and custodial killing of the innocent Kashmiris and the unabated massive violations of human rights in the held state.

Besides, the observance of the day also aims to apprise the world community about the continued hostile attitude of India denying Kashmiris their legitimate right to self-determination and deviating all international norms escaping from the peaceful solution to the much delayed issue.

In Azad Jammu & Kashmir, protest rallies and demonstrations against continued illegal and unlawful Indian occupation of the major part of Jammu & Kashmir will be the hallmark of the black day in all 10 districts of the liberated territory.

These protest rallies will be the hallmark of the black day.

The major rally will be held in Muzaffarabad. AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan and other leaders of the political parties including those in the AJK Parliament will lead the rally.

The day will also mark complete solidarity with the freedom-loving people of Indian occupied Jammu Kashmir in their just and principled struggle for freedom and for the achievement of their legitimate right to self-determination.

The protest rallies are scheduled to be arranged by various social, political and public representative organisations representing people of all spheres of life including lawyers, journalists, members of the business community, laborers, students, women and social and political workers to express fullest traditional hatred against the Indian imperialism besides protesting against the continued denial of all global norms and commitments on Kashmir.

In Mirpur, a protest rally, to be followed by a big procession of people belonging to various segments of the society, to observe the Indian Republic Day as black day, will be held at Shaheed Chowk.

“The city elders would highlight the importance of peaceful settlement of the Kashmir problem expressing severe hatred against India for its continued forcible and illegal Indian occupation of Kashmir for the last 70 years.

Meanwhile, the Kashmiri rights outfit – the Jammu Kashmir National Front - condemned the arrest spree and harassment of people in nook and corner of the disputed region in the garb of the Indian republic day .

“The party has strongly reacted to the day to day search operations and insulting of woman folk and elderly citizens at the hands of the men in uniform in one pretext or the other,” Altaf Hussain Wani, the senior vice chairman, said.

Appealing to people to follow the programme already announced by the joint resistance leadership, National Front declared  that India has no right to celebrate its national festivals in the disputed region.” The party strongly reacted to the arrest spree ahead of the Jan 26 and said that it has become another tool of forces to fill jails and police stations, he said.
