SARGODHA - Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has succeeded in persuading Pir Hamiduddin Sialvi to withdraw the protest call he earlier made for the resignation of Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and the acceptance of other demands.

He finally went to Sial Sharif on Thursday and held a meeting with Pir Hamiduddin Sialvi. Talking to the media after the meeting, the chief minister said Pir Hamiduddin Sialvi had withdrawn the call for the protest movement on his request. However, he said, a committee has been constituted to discuss the issue of resignation of Rana Sanaullah.

He further said a peaceful Seeratun Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) and Khatam-e-Nabuwaat (Peace Be Upon Him) Conferences will be held by Pir Sahib. He asked every Muslim to take part in the conferences. Shehbaz Sharif said finality of the Prophethood (Peace Be Upon Him) is the fundamental article of every Muslim’s faith and our belief in Islam is incomplete without it.

“We all have full and unwavering faith in the finality of the Prophethood (Peace Be Upon Him). Qadyanis are outside the ambit of Islam and there is no second opinion about it,” he said. He added the constitution is also very clear on the issue.

It may be mentioned that under the command of Pir of Sial Sharif, a large number of Sajjada Nasheen, ulema and Mushaikh and their followers had announced to launch a movement against the Punjab government after it failed to meet their demand for ousting Law Minister Rana Sanaullah from the cabinet for he had made statement in favour of Ahmadis. Over a dozen of PML-N legislators standing with Pir Hamiduddin Sialvi had also announced to cancel the protest call.

Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan however has clarified his position that he has firm faith in Khatme Nabuwwat (finality of the Prophethood-PBUH) and his stand has also been endorsed by Ulema.

Shehbaz Sharif last month had promised to reach Sial Sharif and to meet Pir Sahib on the issue and he did it yesterday.

The chief Minister said a committee had been constituted to deal with all the issues. He said the first session of the committee would be held in Lahore next week. To a question, the chief minister said that he was eager to come there, however, everything is scheduled. To another question, he said that he had an affectionate relationship with Pir Hamiduddin Sialvi which is based on love and kindness.

However, some political opponents and religious segments tried to create differences between them. “Upon my request, Pir Hamiduddin has announced to cancel the agitation movement. The resignations tendered by the PML-N legislators on the issue have now been withdrawn,” he added. He said that he and his family have a long-lasting relationship with the family of Sial Sharif and the religious services of Sial Sharif are unforgettable.

Earlier, a meeting was held between Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pir Hamiduddin where constitution of the committee was agreed upon. He said that Rana Sanaullah resignation and other issues would be discussed in the meeting of the committee.

On the occasion, Khawaja Hameedudin Sialvi said that Shahbaz Sharif had admitted his stance on the issue while next decisions would be made after discussion in the committee meeting.
