Islamabad High Court Journalists Association elects cabinet

ISLAMABAD   -  The Islamabad High Court Journalist Association (IHCJA) has elected its new cabinet including president Jahangir Aslam Baloch and secretary general Raja Israr Hussain for the year 2021.  

   Advocate General Niazullah Khan Niazi, spokesperson Islamabad High Court (IHC) Asif Iqbal, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqat and Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad police Qazi Jameelur Rehman congratulated the newly elected body of the IHCJA and expressed their best wishes for them. 

The elections for the new cabinet were held at Islamabad High Court building and Makhdom Niaz Inqilabi Advocate, senior journalist Nayyer Waheed Rawat and Ibrar Hussain Raza were the members of the elections committee.  

Two groups submitted their nomination papers for the elections. Later, one group withdrew its papers. As a result, the election committee declared Jahangir Baloch led group as victorious and issued notification in this regard.  

According to the notification, the newly elected body included president IHCJA Jahangir Aslam Baloch, secretary general Raja Israr Hussain, senior vice president Farrukh Nawaz Bhatti, vice president Mansoor Zafar, senior joint secretary Shahid Amin Rao, joint secretary Izhar Khan Niazi, finance secretary Yasin Hashmi, information secretary Fida Khan while the members of governing body included Raja Waseem Abbasi, Mazhar Sheikh, Shafiq Bhatti, Sobia Musharraf and Shahid Hashmi.  

Meanwhile, president National Press Club Shakeel Anjum and secretary general Anwar Raza also congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of IHCJA and expressed their hope that newly elected body would play its role in resolving the legal issued being faced by the journalist community.
