Militants free eight hostages

HANGU - In the wake of ceasefire between administration and alleged Taliban militants, the members of reconciliatory Jirga Friday succeeded in recovery of eight persons taken hostages by Taliban some two weeks ago. As per details, the Jirga members after declaration of ceasefire between the administration and alleged Taliban militants proceeded to mountainous regions of adjacent Aurakzai Agency. The Jirga members after holding successful talks with the Taliban leaders returned with eight persons who were abducted by Taliban. The recovered persons included a Sub Divisional Officer of PTC, two employees of Peshawar Electric Supply Company, one police constable, one cashier of the bank and others. The Jirga headed by MPA Mufti Said Janan Bangash and Maulana Hussain Asghar handed over the freed hostages to the administration in Hangu. Later the freed hostages were transported to their homes. The Jirga members informed that the remaining issues between the administration and Taliban could be resolved through negotiation. The next round of negotiations will be held on coming Monday. The Jirga members said that release of seven Taliban militants and recovery of the abducted government officials are on the top of the priority list to be resolved through negotiation. Meanwhile, overall atmosphere in Hangu and its adjacent area was satisfactory. Almost all of the bazaars were opened and routine traffic on roads was resumed. However, attendance in government offices was still thin. The contingents of the security forces were on high alert and on extraordinary patrol in the area. No  violent act was reported throughout Hangu and its surrounding areas.
