ICT sets up atta sale points

ISLAMABAD - The Islamabad Capital Territory administration has further enhanced the vigilance on smooth and sufficient supply of flour bags at the control rate. In this regard, the administration has set up nine sale points at various places, including Karachi Company (G-9), Sitara Market, I-8 Sangam Market, F-6 Farooqia Market, I-10 Markaz, Bharakahu and Sihala to maintain the normal and smooth supply of flour bags in urban as well as in rural areas. The administration has also deployed officials of food department, ICT Revenue staff and volunteers of civil defence to ensure the sufficient availability of flour bags. Chief Commissioner Hamid Ali Khan informed that normal supply of flour bags were being ensured in the markets and in this regard the ICT administration was exercising strict vigilance on the sufficient availability of flour bags in the markets. Vigilance teams headed by magistrates were visiting the markets and sale points and supervising the arrangements regarding the smooth supply of flour in the city and the rural area, he added. Hamid Ali Khan said that quality of flour was also being ensured and DHO and DFC were taking sampling of food items regularly from the markets and heavy fines were being imposed on the defaulters for selling substandard food items. Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner (Secretariat) Captain (Retd) Shabaz Nadeem conducted visit of rural areas, including Rural Health Center, Tarlai, and Bharakahu weekly bazaar and issued directives on the spot to the officials concerned for solving the problems of local community. Captain (R) Shabaz Nadeem also checked the availability of flour bags in the rural areas during his visit. He directed the weekly bazaar management to ensure the availability of food items at the cheaper rates in the rural areas. Similarly, shopkeepers display the rate list prominently at their shops. He also visited Rural Health Centre, Tarlai, and directed the officials to ensure provision of best medical facilities to the local community. He ordered the officials to ensure facility of providing clean and safe drinking water to the community. The officials were also directed to intensify the ongoing drive against gastro and disseminating information regarding preventive measures in the community.
