KARACHI - Sindh Minister for Home and Forests, Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Mirza on Friday issued orders to conduct inquiry into the alleged misappropriation of funds in the name of development of coastal areas in the province. He was presiding over a meeting held here to review the status and viability of various uplift schemes pertaining to Sindh Coastal Development Authority. Provincial Ministers Sassi Palejo and Abdul Jalil Memon, MNA Dr. Abdul Wahid Soomro and MPA Humaira Alwani also attended the briefing. Mirza stressed upon proper co-ordination among various provincial departments to carry out different schemes related to coastal development and ensure proper utilisation of fund besides reducing undue expenditures. Director General Sindh Coastal Development Authority briefed the minister and other participants about the status of various completed and ongoing schemes. He informed that the SODA's jurisdiction spans over eight coastal talukas of Thatta and Badin districts. He further told that under Annual Development Programme 2008-09, thirteen schemes would be completed with Rs 500 million.
