3 more fall prey to violence; TTP operative held

 KARACHI - Three more people were gunned down in the metropolis in the ongoing violence, while an operative of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan was apprehended on Wednesday. A man, running a cold drinks shop, was shot dead in a targeted attack in Fatima Jinnah Colony within the remit of the Jamshed Quarters Police Station. Identified as 32-year-old Adnan, son of Abdul Rehman, the victim was attacked at his shop by two unidentified armed men, riding a motorcycle. He received multiple bullets and was ferried to the Civil Hospital, where he breathed his last. “Apparently, Adnan has been murdered over his refusal to pay extortion money,” SHO Khushnood Javed said while adding that they were looking for the unidentified killers.Separately, a man, namely Kashif, 31, son of Akbar Ali, was mowed down near Kala Pull level-crossing within the precincts of the Mehmoodabad Police Station. He was heading some where when unidentified gunmen opened fire on him. The victim was a resident of Masoom Shah Colony and used to work for a garments factory. Police officials suspected that Kashif might have been killed over personal rivalry. A visitor, Mohammad Riaz Baloch aka Chohta Rehman, in his thirties, fell prey to targeted killing in Liaquatabad area within the jurisdiction of the Sharifabad Police Station. The victim, son of Rehmat Baloch, had come to visit his uncle in Shah Faisal locality of Orangi Town. Police officials said he had no links with any party, adding that he might have been targeted for his being a Baloch-speaking. The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities, and later handed over to the heirs. No case was registered till the filing of this report. Meanwhile, an alleged member of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was arrested following a brief shootout in Kunwari Colony, Manghopir. During the initial course of interrogation, Nazeerullah Mehsud confessed to having killed two people, including a Crime Investigation Department official, namely Khan Mohammad. Arms and ammunition were also seized from him. Law enforcers said the TTP operative had also a hand in extortion cases in Manghopir area.
