MIRPUR (AJK) - One may achieve laurels if you are determined to reach to the destination in spite of all odds - even if physical retardation was faced.
This could be accessed through the fact that special children, appearing in the annual - 2012 matriculation examination in AJK, have established a new chapter in the educational history of Azad Jammu & Kashmir after all hearing impaired children qualified the examination.
“This could be described a new record of the 100 per cent qualification of the examination by the special children, both male and female students, held by the AJK BISE”, said an official of AJK BISE.
Eight of the hearing impaired students, belonging to Kashmir Institute of Special Education (KISE) Mirpur, running by an NGO - Insari Welfare Trust AJK, had appeared in the annual Secondary School Certificate Examination, held under the auspices of AJK Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Mirpur, besides thousands of normal candidates.
And all of the special students qualified the examination with distinction by establishing a new precedence for the educational institutions of normal children running in private and particularly for those functioning in the public sectors.
“The Kashmir Institute of Special Education Mirpur is functioning, since long, by an NGO, with prime focus to impart free education to the handicapped children - including hearing impaired - under the spirit to make them useful citizen - to serve the nation and the country being the quality future architects of the nation”, said Dr Amjad Insari, Director of the KISE. “By giving hundred percent positive results of the exam, all the successful special children have proved that any type of physical retardation was no matter for a handicapped person if determined to reach the destination”, Dr Insari quoted the special child Shehzad Ayub, who qualified the examination, as saying.
There were seven male and the only female special children who appeared in the examination.
It is tragic to note that there is no any educational institution for special children in the government sector in any part of AJK because of the lack of interest and poor policies of the AJK Education Department.
