ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad Stock Exchange (ISE) held a seminar on investor education and awareness programme in collaboration with Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) & Institute of Capital Markets (ICM) here on Wednesday, says a press release. In the first session, Syed Javed Hassan, CEO of ICM gave a detailed presentation on investments, structure of financial system, role of stock exchanges, CDC and NCCPL. He detailed the financial products available in the market for existing as well as potential investors. In the second session, Miss Khalida Habib, Director, SECP spoke on investors protection and necessity of investors to be aware of their rights and responsibilities. During the question and answer session, the MD ISE, Mian Ayyaz Afzal and Mr. Zahid Lattif Khan, Director ISE apprised the investors that in order to keep their savings in their own hand, it was necessary that the investors open their own CDC accounts with the CDC. It may be noted that the SECP in collaboration with KSE, LSE, ISE, CDC, NCCPL, PMEX and MUFAP, has launched a nationwide program on investor education and awareness so as to increase the base of the capital market, to enable the investors to make informed decisions and to avoid malpractices in the capital market. From August onward, the three exchange shall hold weekly information sessions for general public, students and grey investors throughout the country.
