LAHORE – The long hours of loadshedding coupled with low-pressure of gas for households hit the consumers hard on Wednesday.
The City was under the grip of 12-hour shutdown with three to four hours long power cuts in different areas. According to the Ministry of Water and Power sources, the generation of electricity is 13,949 Megawatt (MW) while requirement is 18,489 MW. Except Lahore, there are reports that owing to shortfall of electricity, unscheduled and long hours power outage in cities and villages has increased. The LESCO is conducting 12 hours in Lahore while in rural areas it has reached to 18 hours.
Besides the loadshedding menace, the residents of Dharampura, Town Ship, Bhatta Chowk, RA Bazar, Thokar Niaz Beg and other areas faced low pressure of gas. Frustrated residents of Dharampura also staged a protest demonstration against the disappearance of gas and electricity in their areas. The protestors, including children and women, chanted slogans against the government and demanded the better supply of electricity and gas in the area.
