Two miners die of suffocation

QUETTA - Two miners died due to suffocation in Surang coalmine field, some 25 kilometers away from Quetta on Wednesday.Official said the victims were identified as Abdul Ghani and Mesri Khan who were busy in extracting coal from a private coalmine namely Achackzai Coal Company when the mine filled with poisonous gas that resulted in their death. Rescue teams rushed to the spot soon after the incident and retrieved the bodies from the coalmine and shifted them to the Civil Hospital Quetta. Later, the bodies were handed over to their relatives for burial. They belonged to the Shangla area of KPK.It may be mentioned here that dozens of miners have lost their lives in different coalmine fields of Balochistan due to suffocation and explosions but no step is visible on part of the government to prevent such incidents by adopting modern equipments and technology.
