Joy for some, tears for others

LAHORE   -  While the PTI chief Imran Khan was leading by a great margin on three of the five NA seats he was contesting from, heads of other political parties including Shehbaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari were ahead of their opponents till the filing of this report.

In the final count, five senior politicians, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Shaikh Rasheed, Asad Omer, Pervaiz Khattack, Omar Ayub Khan and Jugnu Mohsin were declared winners though unofficially.

Other senior politicians from different parties including Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Khursheed Shah, Nafeesa Shah, Hamza Shehbaz, Shafqat Mehmood, Ahsan Iqbal, Jaffar Leghari, Pervaiz Malik, Khusro Bakhtiyar, Ch Pervaiz Elahi, Khurram Dastgir, Fawad Choudhry, Dr Yasmin Rashid and Mian Mohammad Soomro were leading in their respective constituencies till 2 am.

Aleem Khan and Sardar Ayyaz Sadiq from Lahore were having a neck-to-neck fight in NA-129.

Losers/on the losing side

Ghulam Ahmed Bilour of ANP conceded his defeat even before the final count. There were also reports that Shazia Marri from Sindh had lost election. Other politicians including former Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Moulana Fazlur Rehamn, Sirajul Haq, Ch Nisar Ali, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Asfandyar Wali, Ghous Ali Shah, Zaeem Qadri, Abrarul Haq, Firdous Ashiq Awan, Rana Sanaullah, Awais Leghari, Saira Afzal Tarar, Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Faisal Saleh Hayat were lagging behind their rivals till the filing of this report.
