ISLAMABAD-Bari Imam Shrine has been closed as capital administration received serious threats to blow up the Shrine. The shrine has been closed for unidentified period and no one is allowed to visit the shrine. Similarly, police issued directives to the devotees to keep themselves away from the mausoleum. Sources in police said that law-enforcement agencies indicated that shrine was at the hit list of miscreants who could be blown it up. They said that on Thursday officials of law-enforcement agencies arrested a suspect near the Bari Imam shrine. Later, suspect was shifted to un-disclosed location for further investigation and there were chances that law-enforcement agencies would arrest more miscreants on the tip-of arrested accused, sources added. The shrine was closed down at 1:00 am in the wake of security threats while 8 to 10 police officials have been deputed around the shrine to tackle any untoward situation, Khadam Hussain Bari Imam Police Chocki In charge told TheNation. It is relevant to note here that Annual Urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif known as Bari Sarkar was scheduled to be held in the first week of June. But keeping in view the law and order situation and after receiving serious threats the capital administration had to postpone the congregation for unidentified period. During the last month secret agencies alarmed the administration that the suicide bombers could manage to reach the premises of shrine in the guise of devotees.
