"There was no mention of Kashmir in our discussions", Dr. Manmohan Singh answered when questioned by a journalist with regard to his recent meeting with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari. Dr. Manmohan Singh also bluntly snubbed the Pakistani President by telling him "I am happy to meet you but my mandate is to ask you to ensure the territory of Pakistan must not be used for terrorism". The President of Pakistan has felt so humiliated by the arrogance of the Indian PM that he has pulled back from an announced meeting with him in Sharm-ul-Sheikh, Egypt. Most disappointing, though, is the attempt by our Foreign Office to actually 'defend' Mr. Singh's remarks about Pakistani territory being used for terrorism. There is no mention of Kashmir once again. If India is not discussing Kashmir at bilateral talks, what are we talking to India about? -MOEZ MOBEEN, Islamabad, via e-mail, June 19.
