At least three policemen were killed in a bomb blast on a police check post at Gaddafi Chowk in Multan on Sunday,a private TV reported. According to the report, Nature of the blast has not so far been established, however, officials said the bomb was planted in a motorcycle parked alongside a police station at Gaddafi police station at a main road leading to Lahore. The explosion occurred in a densely populated commercial area of Multan. CCPO Multan, Zulfiqar Amir Zulfiqar denied any loss of life in the blast while talking to media men outside the police station. Nothing could finally be said as yet about nature of the blast, its being investigated. Three police men were injured when wall of the building fell on them as a result of the blast, he said. Sources said three policemen were received dead in the district hospital. According to eyewitnesses and injured police men, nearly 15 cops were inside the building when the blast occurred. DCO Multan Zahid Zaman told reporters that it might be a suicide attack, saying that a suspected attacker rammed his explosive laden motorbike to the police station building. Officials said an injured man was also injured soon after the blast. Police cordon off the building while Bomb Disposal Squad also arrived at the site and searched for evidences. They declared the site sensitive suspecting that more bombs could be planted near the building. The explosion damaged an outer wall of the police station and windowpanes of the nearby buildings. Police along with rescue teams and area people shifted their injured colleagues to hospitals where emergency was declared.
