...expedite Murree projects

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed that all under-construction projects in Murree be completed expeditiously for the facility of tourists, and warned that if the quality of construction of the projects is not satisfactory, strict action would be taken against the contractors and officers concerned. He was presiding over a high-level meeting at Government House Murree to review the pace of on-going projects in Murree for provision of best recreational facilities to the people and tourists. MPA Raja Fiaz Sarwar, Secretary C&W, Commissioner Rawalpindi, Secretary Forests, representatives of FWO and NESPAK as well as officers concerned attended the meeting. Addressing the meeting, he mentioned that that he had inspected Old Murree Road from Rawalpindi to Murree and its construction work was satisfactory, whereas there were shortcomings in the construction work from Murree to Kohala Road and orders had been issued to contractor concerned for rectification. He directed that resource centre in Murree be completed in stipulated time. Digital library and modern facilities of computer will be available to the local people, tourists, students, youth, teachers and scholars from this resource centre in Murree, he said, adding that the designing provided by NESPAK with regard to construction of Murree Parking Plaza was poor which resulted in land-sliding and financial loss to the government. Strict action will be ensured against those responsible for it. No compromise will be made on the quality of construction projects of Murree and if any department or contractor committed corruption, strict action will be taken against them, he warned. On the directions of the CM, Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed gave a briefing with regard to on-going development projects in Murree and apprised the progress of construction work.
