Abrupt visit finds hospital in a shambles

Punjab Minister for Health Khalil Tahir Sandhu paid abrupt visits to District Headquarters Hospital, Children Hospital and Rural Health Centre at Mong here on Tuesday. Accompanied by Punjab Minister for Women Rights Hameeda Waheed, the health minister found air-conditioners out of order. It was reported to them that some air conditioners had been stolen from the hospital. The ministers expressed their annoyance over mismanagement of hospital affairs and directed medical superintendent to get an FIR registered regarding stolen air conditioners. They also had a round of patients’ wards. Inquiring about the patients’ health, they heard a number of complaints against the hospital management. The minister was told by the patients that they had purchase the medicines from the market. Even they are asked to purchase stitching thread from a nearby bazaar. There was no chart on the bed of patients showing record of their diagnoses and history. On the occasion he, the health minister said that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was working to provide best facilities in the hospitals but unfortunately doctors were working against the demand of their noble profession.He warned the MS to improve standard of the hospital management for the benefit of patients. He said he would pay visit to the hospital again and if the things were not improved, a strict action would be taken.
