The Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab Ameer and MPA said that people have given mandate to the PML-N to get rid of inflation, loadshedding and unemployment, and also brought the government’s attention toward the killings due to measles. Dr Syed Wasim Akhtar said that the loss of innocent lives due to measles was a failure of the administration. About 174 innocent children have lost their lives due to measles while the rulers are in the deep slumber. The officials dealing with negligence and substandard medicine manufacturers should be dealt with sternly, he demanded. He urged the Punjab government to take steps on emergency basis against measles. He was of the view that in order to overcome the energy crisis, Iran and China’s help should be taken into considered. “If our leaders had brought back the looted money from Swiss banks, the country would not have suffered the present crises and there would have been no need to obtain loans from the International Monetary Fund. He further said that the government’s announcement to bring back the money from Swiss banks was appreciable. Regarding the budget, he said that the current one was disappointing and anti-people. In this budget, no relief has been given to the general public thereby increasing the difficulties of the people, he added. “Salaries should have been increased by 20%. The people talking about privatisation of departments are in fact trying to hide their incompetency,” he said. He added that the poor could not even eat two-time meal while due to the flawed policies the rich are getting richer while the poor are getting poorer. Budget is the jugglery of words and could not give relief to the people, he said. He noted that by sanctioning of only Rs13 billion for agriculture, the government had neglected it while no funds had been sanctioned for the energy projects aimed at 731 megawatts power generation.
