The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has devised a monsoon plan to make the rainwater flow choke free in case of downpour, says a spokesman. The plan will be workable from July 1 to September 15, the official said, adding that the company with the help of metrology department will generate rain alerts after every six hours and special crew will be deployed on the sensitive choking points of the metropolitan especially Garhi Shahu, Lakshmi Chowk, Do Moriya Pul, Anarkali etc.  Officials concerned All staff including senior officials will work in three shifts with special focus on monitoring of night time operations. A control room has been set up in LWMC Jain Mandar office. Town level offices of LWMC have been declared as emergency centers in order to address the citizens’ waste related complaints.
Directives based on the standard operating procedures for officers and field staff, have also been issued in this regards. MD of LWMC Waseem Ajmal Chaudhary said that helpline 1139 has been put on high alert and provision of Albayrak and Oz Pak machinery would be ensured in order to swiftly resolve citizens’ complaints during monsoon season.–Staff Reporter
