RAWALPINDI - Punjab Minister for Energy and Mineral Development, Chaudhry Shair Ali, has said that the provincial government is focusing on the production of electricity from alternative sources at the local level to mitigate the energy crisis. He said this while talking to media persons here at Lohsar Landfill site on Tuesday evening. The minister visited the site to inspect the pilot project of the electricity production from the solid waste dumped at the site.

Biogas was produced from solid waste that was further converted into electricity.

Ch Shair Ali said besides focusing on new electricity production projects, a comprehensive strategy was being drafted to conserve electricity and recommendations for this purpose would be forwarded to the chief minister for approval shortly. He said there was no instant solution to resolve energy crisis and if any solution exists, it was not durable.
