KARACHI - USAID has praised recent developments in KW&SB but stressed on to strengthen the revenue recovery system.
A joint delegation of US Agency for International Development (USAID) Pakistan and World Bank Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) met Managing Director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Misbahuddin Farid, on Tuesday, at KWSB MD Secretariat.
During the meeting, future plans for mutual cooperation and opportunities to strengthen KW&SB were discussed.
Jane Thomas of USAID praised recent developments in KW&SB but stressed to strengthen the revenue recovery system. Appreciating KW&SB efforts and hard work, she said that despite KW&SB strives to provide quality facilities in Karachi, there is still room for improvement in some areas.
On the occasion, Farid briefed the delegation about Greater Karachi Water Supply Project K-IV and Greater Karachi Sewerage Treatment Plan S-III. He said that in order to improve the quality of life in Karachi it was vital that these projects were completed on time.
He stated that USAID had helped the KW&SB to replace out-dated electric pumps and changing of pumps at Clifton Pumping Station.
Replacement of 75 electric pumps on 23 pumping station is under progress, 41 have been installed and 34 are pending.
On the occasion, documentaries regarding energy efficiency issues in KW&SB were displayed and the delegation was briefed by the MD KW&SB, DMD Planning, Chief Engineer K-IV and PS to MD regarding the details.
