Altaf demands SC to call Sharifs

KARACHI - Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has demanded the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo moto of the Model Town, Lahore incident and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab chief minister should be called before the SC.
Addressing the MQM general workers convention at Lal Qila Ground on Wednesday, he said PAT chief Dr Qadri’s plane made seven rounds over the federal capital’s airport. “If I further go in details, the people at Raiwand might stick in problems.”
He said currently the situation of the country was critical. Bullets were fired on the innocent citizens in Model Town, Lahore and MQM MNA Tahira Asif was brutally murdered in another incident.
Now the time has come that the people of Punjab should come out against the menace of terrorism, he added.
Altaf said Tahira’s family was receiving threats. He demanded the Punjab government to take notice of the issue immediately. He said it seems that the time had come for decisive action against the terrorists. He paid tribute to the party’s various wings including women and elder wing.
The MQM chief said increase in the price of essential commodities was witnessed during the Ramazan. Government should play their role in controlling the prices of essential items by giving tasks to various authorities.
Talking about the Pakistan Army operation Zarb-e-Azb, he said soldiers were sacrificing their lives for elimination of terrorism from the county but it was unfortunate that politics was being used instead of expressing solidarity with the Pakistan Army.
He appealed to the people to come forward and donate their one day salary and provide aid at the relief camps set up by the MQM for internally displaced people (IDPs) of North Waziristan. He further asked the other political and religious forces to announce relief activities for the IDPs.
Earlier, MQM coordination committee member Dr Farooq Sattar said the party would not tolerate the forcible collection of Zakat and Fitra. Workers should avoid using such practice or else party’s disciplinary action would be taken against them.
“On the direction of MQM chief Altaf Hussain, the party has set up camps to help IDPs of North Waziristan,” he added.
