ISLAMABAD - A joint team of Islamabad police and ISI arrested a key man of Ansar-ul-Ummah, a militant organization, from a suburban area of the capital.
The team raided a place falling under jurisdiction of Sihala police station and arrested Tayyab alias Umer Pagal, one of the most wanted terrorists. “The arrest has been made on information. Besides, a pistol and 20 rounds of bullets have also been recovered from his possession,” said a spokesman of ICT Wednesday.
He said that Tayyab, 20, is said to have been involved in a number of incidents of terrorism across the country especially in Islamabad. Police officials say the militant spent years in Miran Shah to get training regarding terrorism activities.
“Tayyab came to twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad in October, 2013 along with his accomplice Shah Hussain alias Mansoor for assassinating high profile personalities.
The accused has confessed his involvement in various terrorism activities,” the spokesperson said. According to police, the accused has confessed killing a police officer and attempted suicide attack at Imambargah in Rawalpindi in which his accomplice was shot dead before committing the suicide attack.
Tayyab is also the accomplice of those nine terrorists who have been arrested from various areas of Rawalpindi and Islamabad since January 2014. Five hand grenades and two pistols have also been recovered from these nabbed terrorists who also revealed Tayyab as their close aide.
