LAHORE - Seven people including women and children were injured in roof collapse yesterday.

Rescuers said that a family residing in a rental house in Mohallah Shamaspura of Badami Bagh was sleeping when they had the trajedy.

The rescue teams reached the scene and pulled out the injured from the debris. Four people were provided first aid while three with serious wounds identified as Zenab 49, her daughter Asia 22, and three-year-old Alisha were shifted to hospital.

Rescuers being trained: Training of fire rescuers is being imparted by international trainers from Finland Mr Markku Peltonen and Matti Ervalahti to operationalise the newly-procured snorkels.

The training will continue for two weeks in which operational and technical staff along with officers would participate in the training at Headquarters, Punjab Emergency service (Rescue 1122).

Director General, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Brig (retd) Dr Arshad Zia and Director General Emergency Services Academy Brig ® Amir Hamza personally supervised the training session and witnessed working of snorkels.

A special delegation from Emergency Services Academy also joined the orientation and training session.

The features of snorkels are to access difficult places during operations, computerized system with multiple cameras for remote firefighting operation etc.
