Shawal moon likely to be sighted on July 5

LAHORE - Eidul Fitr will be celebrated in Pakistan on July 6 (Wednesday) as there are strong possibilities of sighting the Shawal moon on July 5 (Tuesday).

“There are strong possibilities of sighting the Shawal moon on Ramazan 29. At the time of sunset on Ramazan 29, the age of the moon will be more than 27 hours. Shawal moon will remain visible for 44 minutes and it will be 9 degree above horizon.

As such all three conditions for sighting a moon will be fulfilled,” said meteorological expert Shaukat Ali Awan. “The moon can be sighted along coastal belt of Pasni, Gwadar and Sindh.If weather is fair, the Shawal moon will be sighted in Sindh, Balochistan and other parts of the country on July 5,” he said.
