Appellate Tribunal (AT) has allowed former prime minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to contest election from NA-53.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kyani conducted the hearing of the case against the rejection of nomination papers of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi from NA 53 on Tuesday.
Former PM appeared personally before the tribunal and took the stance that Returning Officer (RO) has rejected his candidature contrary to the facts.
The appellate tribunal (AT) while nullifying the decision of RO allowed Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to contest elections from NA-53.

Shahid Khaqan is contesting upcoming general elections on PML-N ticket from his home constituency of NA-57 Muree.
Lahore High court Justice Abdul Rehman Lodhi was conducting the hearing of the case.
Abbasi ’s legal counsel informed the tribunal that Shahid Khaqan had declared all his assets in the nomination papers he also mentioned his shares in an airline in the documents.
After hearing the arguments the tribunal reserved its verdict.
Petitioner Masood Ahmad Abbasi challenged the nomination papers of former prime minister accusing him of extracting money from the national depository.
He accused Abbasi of taking RS 1 billion from national reserve and gave it to his son to perform Umrah.
Masood Abbas also alleged that Shahid Khaqan did not present the correct detail of his assets.
