Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar, on Friday warned of a fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic in Pakistan in July and urged the nation to follow SOP's and to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
NCOC Chief as well as Federal Minister, Asad Umar further stated that the latest stats from the National Command and Operations Centre have hinted of a fourth wave of COVID-19 which can be harmful if protocols are not followed properly.
In one of his tweets, he stated that ''Reviewed the artificial intelligence based disease modeling analysis today in NCOC . In the absence of strong SOP enforcement and continued strong vaccination program, the 4th wave could emerge in Pakistan in July. Please adhere to sop's and vaccinate as soon as possible''.
The third COVID-19 wave which hit the country in February proved deadlier than previous ones. During the third wave, the number of active cases in Pakistan crossed the 50,000 mark on March 31.
As per now, there are nearly 33,000 active cases and the nationwide number of deaths is 22,152. As far as the vaccination process is concerned, Pakistan has administered 14,165,288 doses.
