KARACHI - A Chinese delegation including a minister is reaching Pakistan to inaugurate the Construction of Quay Wall and Marine Protection Works at deep-Sea Container Terminal, sources told The Nation, The high profile inauguration ceremony is to be held on 30th of this month at the Camp Office of Director General Ports and Shipping, where high-ups of the Ministry of Ports and Shipping are to observe this milestone achieved by Karachi Port Trust (KPT). Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Khan Ghauri, Chairperson KPT Nasreen Haque, Acting Director General Ports and Shipping Asad Qureshi, and many others would be the guests of the ceremony. The Rs 12.8 billion project of marine protection works is being built by a Chinese firm, moreover, the deep-sea container terminal, being built at a total cost of $1.6 billion, is located at the east of Keamari Groyne consists of 10 berths, with 18 metre depth and 5km of quay wall. The projects phase-I would cost $600 million and includes four berths, with 1500 metre quay wall, and the KPT had already entered into a concession agreement with Hutchison Port Holdings, Kong Kong, who are investing $475 million.
