LAHORE The Lahore High Court Chief Justice on Thursday directed the CPO Rawalpindi to trace out a missing person Habibur Rehman, who was allegedly taken into custody by intelligence agencies a few months ago. The CJ also ordered the CPO to personally appear before the court on the next date of hearing. Further proceedings in the case will start on April 9. On Thursday, the Deputy Attorney General read in the court of the CJ a report on behalf of the Secretary Interior stating therein the abductee was not in the custody of the intelligence agencies. The report also hinted to another report of the ISI wherein the agency had denied detention of Habibur Rehman. In addition, sub-inspector of the Civil Lines Police Station Cantt Rawalpindi also submitted a report stating that efforts were being made to trace out and recover the alleged abductee. On this the court ordered the CPO Rawalpindi to form a joint investigation team to trace Habib and submit its report in the court on April 9. An application was given to Chief Justice Khawaja Sharif during his tour of Sub -Division Chichawatni Bar Association Sahiwal on Jan 2, 2010. The CJ converted the application into a petition and started suo motu proceeding in the case. As per details, one Liaquat Ali working as naib Qasid for Tehsil Municipal Committee Chichawatni in his application stated that his son Habibur Rehman, (24), employed at Hotel Marry, Iqra Plaza, Rawalpindi, was taken into custody for a certain investigation by the officials of intelligence agencies on Nov 18, 2009. The officials at that time had said that the boy would be released after three to four days. But now his whereabouts was not known, Liaquat in his application maintained. He said he submitted an application in the Civil Lines Police Station Cantt Rawalpindi but his son could not be recovered or traced out.
