LAHORE Justice Umar Ata Bandial of the Lahore High Court was informed by the law officer on Friday that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has given approval for creating 198 new posts in the Health Department for regularisation of assistant professors, and senior medical officers who were working on contractual basis in the department. The Court learnt to this said effect while proceedings with case filed through Dr Abdul Basit and Hafiz Farooq Nasim advocate for regularization of Assistant Professors and SMOs. A summary approved by the CM was submitted in the court which stated that 70/80 assistant professors and 90 senior medical officers who could not be regularized in 2009, are now being regularized as the CM Punjab has given approval to the create 198 such posts. Moreover, 79 cases of Associate Professors and Professors (contract basis) are being sent to Punjab Services Commission for regularization in the health department, the summery added. The report said the PPSC would hold interviews of these doctors and new candidates would not be considered for this purpose. Moreover, Heath department has constituted a committee consisting of secretary regulation and secretary Services to decide individual seniority of more than 6000 doctors who were regularized from 2009 till to date.
