ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Mian Raza Rabbani, who is also holding the additional charge of Ministry of Human Rights, directed the officials of Ministry of Human rights to prepare a comprehensive report on rights violations across the country in consultation with the provincial governments. Sources aware of the development said Rabbani had asked the officials to ensure that each case relating to crime against women and rights violation should be reported at police stations and seriously prosecuted. The sources further said that it was also decided by Rabbani that an inter-provincial conference of ministers of human rights would be called shortly to look into the rights violation in various provinces, especially against women, so that a well-knitted and flawless strategy could be evolved to check the growing crime against women and other rights violation against weaker segments of society. The sources further informed that Mian Raza Rabbani had taken serious notice of the slackness on part of the ministry officials who were not keeping the record of the cases of such nature and in this connection on his direction a circular was issued to all the commissioners, DCOs and Deputy Commissioners across the country to provide them a detailed report on the cases of such nature in their respective districts so that a methodical report on the state of rights violation in the country could be prepared. Sources further said that Mian Raza Rabbani had expressed his resolve to make the Ministry of Human Rights a vibrant and active ministry and in this connection he was also taking the provinces on board to provide shield to the weaker segments of society who often fell victim to the powerful people across the country. He further directed the ministry officials that that financial as well as legal assistance should be provided to the human rights victims particularly women from the special fund created for the purpose by the Prime Minister. He also directed the officials of the ministry to take up the issue of Rs 40 million funds frozen by the Ministry of Finance.
