RAWALPINDI  – A police officer was killed during an encounter with the suspects of a murder case at the Mukha Sing Estate, area of the Police Station Waris Khan here on Monday.

According to details, police officials of Waris Khan had arrested one Raheel in connection with a murder case.

During course of investigation, the accused pinpointed his other accomplices hiding in a house located in Mukha Sing Estate. To arrest the criminals, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Imran Khalid along with his team conducted a raid at the hideout and arrested two accused.

In the meanwhile, the other accomplices of the criminals started indiscriminate firing on police party in which ASI Imran Khalid was killed. However, the criminals managed to flee from the scene while the arrested accused were shifted to an unknown place for further investigation.

On the other hand, City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokhar, SSP (Operations) Israr Ahmed Abbasi, SP Rawal Town Chaudhry Muhammad Hanif and Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station Waris Khan Raja Rasheed and police spokesman Inspector Raja Fayyaz, as usual, either switched off their cell phones or did not respond to the calls of journalists.

The dead body of the ASI was shifted to hospital for autopsy whereas further investigation was underway.
