The Parliamentary Committee formed to select the caretaker chief minister of Punjab has decided to send the matter to the Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday after having failed to reach consensus on the issue in three days.

The Punjab Parliamentary Committee could not reach consensus on the name of caretaker Chief Minister on third and final day on Tuesday.

This was announced by the members of the Committee after the last day meeting in Lahore.

Rana Sanaullah, leader of the PML (N), told media the committee has decided to refer the issue to the ECP.

“We will accept the decision of the Election Commission,” he said.

The committee deliberated upon four names including Aamir Raza Khan, Khwaja Zaheer, Justice (retd) Zahid Hussain and Najam Sethi.

PPP insisted on the names of Sethi, Justice Hussain while PML (N) was supporting Khan and Zaheer.
