SHERGARH - Mian Khadim Hussain Bhatti has been elected as joint secretary of Pakistan Kissan Ittehad (PKI) Shergarh chapter.

The election was held during a meeting of the PKI Okara held here the other day. Chaired by PKI Okara district general secretary Mian Shaukat Ali Wattoo, the meeting was attended by Hujra Shah Muqeem city president Malik Yasin Jhuju, Shergarh city president Ch Mubashar Hassan, vice-president Allah Yar Arian, Ch Muhammad Yasin, Ch Tariq Memood, Ch Muhammad Asghar, Muhammad Tufail Bhati, Syed Mohsan Zaman Kirmani and others.

Addressing the meeting, PKI District General Secretary Mian Shaukat Wattoo said the objective behind the formation of the PKI was to safeguard the rights of farmers. He said the process of gunny bags distribution during the coming wheat procurement campaign would be pursued and monitored thoroughly and ‘bardana mafia would be dealt with an iron hand’. At the end, known farmer Mian Khadim Hussain Bhatti was elected as the PKI, Shergarh joint secretary.
