ISLAMABAD – Asking for an end to government’s influence over the Federal Service Tribunal (FST), the Supreme Court on Monday ordered grant of financial autonomy to the Tribunal.
According to a private television channel, a three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, resumed the hearing over the case pertaining to the Federal Services Tribunal (FST).
The court said in its order that the legislation of the judicial decision should be enacted within 30 days, failing which the appointment of the Chairman of FST would be considered as null and void.
The bench said that FST should be taken out of the government’s influence.
The court said in its decision that the appointment of FST Chairman was not in accordance with the constitution and the decision to appoint the chairman was to be taken after consultation with the chief justice of the relevant high court.
